Dear Girl Scout Troop Leader,
The person who gave you this flyer has discovered the Zink the Zebra Girl Scout Patch Activity and wants to suggest it as an activity for your troop. The Zink the Zebra activity is a ready to implement, self-contained plan that was honored with the 1999 Quality Recognition Award by Girl Scouts of the USA.
The Zink patch activity teaches some valuable lessons for all girls:
- An awareness of and appreciation for individual differences, along with compassion and respect for others
- A better understanding of cancer, a disease which touches the lives of virtually every girl and family
It achieves all this by using the endearing story of Zink, a zebra with spots instead of stripes, who learns that being different can be a positive experience. Kelly Weil, an 11-year-old girl, wrote the book in the midst of a battle with cancer.
For Girl Scout troop leaders, this is a package that has it all. The Zink package includes the materials you need (including bean bag animal for each girl), complete activity plans...even snack suggestions. Most troops complete their Zink activities within one or two meetings. There is an attractive Zink participation patch girls receive.
Sound good? We invite you to participate, by calling your local Girl Scout Council office. Many local program directors already have Zink packages in stock. You are also welcome to call us at: 865-584-0170 or write to:
Zink the Zebra Foundation, Inc. 12080 N Corporate Parkway Suite 140 Mequon, WI 53092
Hope you can join us in a proven activity that Girl Scouts really love!
Sincerely,
Patty McGrew Zink the Zebra Patch Program Director Zink the Zebra Foundation, Inc. |
