Girl Scouts, Central Savannah River Council serves girls in fifteen counties in two states (Georgia and South Carolina), and is proud to have been able to bring the Zink the Zebra program to over 4000 girls in their council area through generous grants from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and the CSRA Community Foundation.
Underwritten by these generous benefactors, troops and groups were first offered the Zink the Zebra program. Other girls were then introduced to Zink at summer camp. The last opportunity for girls to participate was the following membership year in September when girls were attracted to the Girl Scout program through recruitment efforts featuring Zink the Zebra.
Troop leaders and school administrators noticed a change for the better in the attitudes of girls of all ages who participated in the Zink the Zebra program. The girls were also able to see the difference that was made in their relationships to others.
Girl Scouts, Central Savannah River Council included the Zink the Zebra program in an informational video that was shown at a banquet where there were many wait staff in the room. One of them, (a woman) who had experienced cancer as a child, came to the council office later that day to relay how moved she was by that part of the video. She said that what the Girl Scouts were doing was very important for children and she applauded these efforts.
The Zink the Zebra program has been a great retention and recruitment tool for Girl Scouts, Central Savannah River Council. The Zink the Zebra program delivers a message that will stick with girls all of their lives.
