Zink the Zebra Program for Girl Scouts Winner of the 1999 Girl Scouts USA Quality Recognition Award.
In 1997, Zink the Zebra and the Girl Scouts of Milwaukee Area, Inc. (Milwaukee, WI) began a very special collaborative effort. Together they integrated the fundamental values of understanding, respect, compassion and acceptance into age-specific activities that are used in the award-winning Zink the Zebra Patch program.
Today, over 300 councils across the country and overseas are using Zink the Zebra program activities that help girls and young women embrace differences and build self-esteem. Our unique program provides a safe environment that encourages the discussion of sensitive subjects in a non-threatening atmosphere. Zink lessons foster compassion and respect others, and help Girl Scouts practice the life skills of positive interaction and community service. Through fun and easy to use program activities, Zink bean bag learning tools and accompanying patches, engaging videos and Kelly Weil's beautiful storybook, Zink the Zebra - A Special Tale, Girl Scouts everywhere are learning how to "Think Zink"!
